Result from a lack of vitamin B12 or folate in the body, which are essential for making red blood cells.

TREATMENT: Cobalamin or folic acid supplementation.

They take place when RBCs (red blood cells) are destroyed faster than they can be produced. This may be due to hereditary conditions, autoimmune disorders, infections, or some drugs.

TREATMENT: Drugs that suppress the immune system, medication for infections, or removal of the spleen may be given.

It is a rare but dangerous condition where bone marrow does not produce enough red blood cells, resulting from issues such as exposure to poisonous substances, infections, certain drugs, or autoimmune diseases.

TREATMENT: Blood transfusion, bone marrow transplant, medications that stimulate hematopoiesis.

This kind of anemia is hereditary and causes RBCs to be shaped like sickles rather than discs. These sickle-shaped RBCs can interrupt circulation, sometimes causing pain and organ damage.

TREATMENT: Pain management; Hydroxyurea; Blood transfusion.

It is a genetic disorder that causes an abnormal form of hemoglobin (a molecule within RBCs) synthesis, leading to the destruction of a large number of erythrocytes.

TREATMENT: Iron chelation therapy, blood transfusion, bone marrow transplant sometimes.
